Three Rock Bands Fuel Glastonbury 2025 Rumours with Tour Date Teases
Ah, the sweet chaos of Glastonbury lineup rumours—what a time to be alive! While Sir Rod Stewart has already been confirmed as the 2025 Legends Slot performer, and his pal Nile Rodgers cheekily revealed he’s also hitting the Pyramid Stage on Sunday, June 29, the headliner guessing game remains wide open. Names like Olivia Rodrigo, Green Day, and The 1975 are swirling in the rumour mill, but now three new tour announcements have added fuel to the fire.
It seems some familiar faces from Glasto’s past might just be circling back to Worthy Farm. Kings of Leon, The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft, and British pop-rock icons McFly have all announced tour dates that conveniently leave room for a little Pyramid Stage magic.
Kings of Leon: A Comeback in the Making?
The Use Somebody hitmakers were Glasto royalty back in 2008, headlining Friday night while The Verve closed out Saturday. Could history repeat itself?
Kings of Leon have announced a new gig at Cardiff’s Blackweir Live on June 29, which rules them out of a Sunday slot—but here’s the kicker: their next show isn’t until July 2 at Lytham Festival. That leaves the Friday or Saturday headline slots at Glastonbury wide open. Plenty of time for Caleb, Nathan, Jared, and Matthew Followill to bring their Southern rock swagger back to the Pyramid Stage.
Richard Ashcroft: Bitter Sweet Speculation
The Verve’s frontman, known for his Bitter Sweet Symphony anthem, is another intriguing contender. Ashcroft is scheduled to play Newmarket Racecourses on Friday, June 27, but his calendar is mysteriously clear for the rest of Glastonbury weekend.
Could he step into a headliner slot—or perhaps take on The Other Stage for an epic set? After all, if Coldplay can headline five times, surely there’s room for Ashcroft to return to Worthy Farm glory.
McFly: From Avalon to the Pyramid?
Okay, hear me out: McFly might seem like the curveball in this trio, but Glastonbury loves a surprise. The Star Girl singers have announced a summer tour with gigs on June 21 and 22 in Westonbirt Arboretum and Southampton Guildhall Square. Then? A massive gap until July 12.
Last time McFly graced Glasto, they played the Avalon Stage—which was absolutely bursting at the seams. Could they level up in 2025? Maybe they’ll close The Other Stage, à la The National or Disclosure, or take on an early evening Pyramid Stage slot similar to Avril Lavigne’s set last year.
What’s Next?
Of course, this is all speculation—classic Glastonbury, keeping us on our toes. But with their tantalizing gaps in tour schedules, Kings of Leon, Richard Ashcroft, and McFly are certainly adding intrigue to the 2025 lineup buzz.
So, will we see Caleb’s crooning, Richard’s epic singalongs, or McFly’s cheeky pop-rock energy under the Worthy Farm sun (or rain)? Only time—and Emily Eavis—will tell. Stay tuned, festival friends! 🌟
