“I’m Not Leaving My Tent Behind”: Decathlon Expands Its No Tent Left Behind Promise Ahead of Festival Season

Let’s be honest—there’s nothing quite like waking up in a sun-drenched (or mud-soaked) tent at a festival, your ears still ringing from last night’s headliner and your pillow slightly deflated. But what happens to that tent when the music stops and everyone heads home? For too many festival-goers, the answer is… it gets left behind.
Decathlon is on a mission to change that—and their “No Tent Left Behind” promise is getting a major upgrade for 2025. What began as a pledge for just one tent has now blossomed into a full-blown commitment across their entire camping range. Yep, whether it’s a solo pop-up or a family-sized festival fortress, Decathlon wants your tent back when you’re done—and they’re making it super easy (and rewarding) to do the right thing.
The idea? Give campers the freedom to explore the great outdoors without the guilt. You can now grab a tent for your summer adventures—Glasto, Green Man, or just a chill weekend roasting marshmallows with your mates—and return it at the end of the season if your plans or needs change. And yes, they’ll make sure it goes on to have a Second Life, rather than a soggy one in a landfill.
Chris Allen, Decathlon UK’s sustainability leader, said:
“What started with one tent has grown into a commitment across our entire range, driven by the public’s desire to make more responsible choices… we’re not only reducing waste across all camping activities, but also creating a vital supply chain for our Second Life programme.”
To put it into perspective, your average single-use tent contains the same amount of plastic as 9,000 straws or 200 bottles. It’s a shocking stat—but one Decathlon is trying to flip on its head by making circular camping the new norm.
This year, they’ve even teamed up with presenter and all-round festival fan Vick Hope, who’s backing the campaign and loving the message.
“Whether you’re dancing at Glasto, on a hilltop, or roasting marshmallows with family,” she said, “your tent deserves more than one weekend of glory.”
And the messaging isn’t just talk. Look out for bold and beautiful oversized flags made from repurposed old tents flying proudly across festivals this summer. Their simple but powerful message?
“I’m not leaving my tent behind. You shouldn’t either.”
So whether you’re a seasoned camper or a curious first-timer, this is your sign to pack light, tread kindly, and give your tent the love it deserves—before, during, and after the big weekend.
